Daddy getting Brennan suited up, in his hospital gown
On April 27th, we arrived at the children's hospital for my baby boy's surgery. He had 3 surgery's in 1. But I'm pretty sure they will not give us any kind of price break on that. He had a cyst removed from above his eye, his tongue clipped and had tubes put in both ears.
After answering tons of questions, signing a ton of papers, getting vitals, getting step by step of what was going to take place that morning and during surgery, they sent us into a play room to wait.
The play room is where sister spent most all of her time. She was very concerned about this surgery thing, for weeks leading up to this day. She didn't understand, why we couldn't be with Brennan during his surgery, she had also made the comment...mom last time you went to the hospital, you didn't come back for a long time (nothing like a stab to the ole heart). I think she literally worried herself sick, her little stomach hurt her all day.

This picture was taken right after surgery
The Ent Dr. did her part first (clipping his tongue and putting tubes in his ears), she said her part would be fast and when she came to talk to us 15 min later, after she had seen us and told us she was fixing to go in and start, I would say that was fast. Her report was...he did great and now the Opthamologist was fixing to start on his part (the removing of the cyst). His part of the surgery took about 1 hour. He came out and gave us the report that... Brennan did wonderful during surgery, he took the cyst out and it looked just as he thought it would. They will call this week, to tell me the pathologist report, which he expects to be the same as what he said (a dermoid cyst).

Big sister got to come back and see him after surgery
Right after surgery, they took me and Silas to a room and then they brought in Brennan. Silas scored getting to hold him first. Brennan was awake when they brought him to us and we were a bit surprised. We of course were talking to him and kissing on him and telling him what a good big boy he was and how well he did during surgery (and well I was shedding just a few tears). He was staring at us and gave us his cute little half grin and then went out, like a light.
In order for us to be able to head home, he had to drink at least 1/2 cup of apple juice. Which now thinking back, really apple juice when they just cut his tongue (but they had to make sure he wasn't going to get sick from all the anesthesia). When I say he went out, he went out. They came in multiple times and checked his IV, his blood pressure and he didn't even flinch. So we decided, we would let him sleep and rest and when he woke up, we would then try to get him to drink his juice.
We were so thankful that everything went well during his surgery. We knew so many of you, were praying for him and his Mama during this time. Thank you so much for the prayers, the calls and the messages you left for us. We are truly blessed to have you all in our life and our little boy's life.
Besides his Mommy, Daddy and Sister, Me Maw, Pe Paw and Sis. Rena were in the waiting room as well waiting, praying and anxiously waiting for the reports and for their time to go back and see him for their selves.
He was such a trooper and has been this whole time. Buddy boy slept ALOT the day of surgery and a few days after, you could definitely tell he had anesthesia in his little system. Last night, he finally started eating good again. His little eye has been swollen and black and blue. At his post op appt., they said he and his eye looked great and assured me that it would look worse before it got better.
The day we got him home and a couple of days following, he literally would fall asleep anywhere. Once again, we have been blessed by OUR ALMIGHTY GOD and are so truly thankful.
