So here goes my effort, of trying to remember and recall the wonderful Christmas that my family had this year. Of course it was busy, busy, busy as always, but what a wonderful busy it was. The week of Christmas, Jolee had a program and Christmas party at school, I got sick as a dog, we went Christmas caroling with our church, we had our family Christmas, and we traveled to Bama to be with our families for Christmas!
Did I mention I was sick as a dog, the day of Jolee's school program/ Christmas party. I went but honestly I was so sick, I couldn't even hold my head up and layed it on Brennan's stroller the entire time and really I don't remember a thing but throwing Brennan to one of the Moms twice to excuse myself to go throw up. How sad is that! Silas wasn't able to go that day, so I had too, someone had to be there for her 1st Christmas school program. Thankfully, I taped it and watched it later that week and she did so good. It was such a fun day for her and her little friends (I only wished I got to enjoy that fun day with her)!
A little glimpse of what our Christmas card looked like this year. I had to take a picture of a picture, due to my scanner not working on my printer, that's why the color is way off on here, but you get the point and it looked really good in person (if I say so myself)!
The Sunday before Christmas, some wonderful people from our church got together and went Christmas caroling. We visited some of our older church members in hope to bring them some cheer this holiday season.
We had such a wonderful time fellow shipping and singing together, I LOVE our church family!
A picture of our "choir director" that night! I'm just kidding to all you PB's out there, we really don't have a choir director it was just an inside joke between all the carolers that night!
I am going to speak for myself about that night now (because it is my blog)! The weeks leading up to the church Christmas caroling, I had all these thoughts going thru my head, well it is the week of Christmas, I have a ton to do, still some shopping, wrapping, cooking, school programs, dance program, washing, packing, I would have to wrestle with the kiddos (in and out, in and out of their car seats all night) etc, etc! And I really could use this time to do all that instead of going caroling.
Then the thoughts of well, I do love to sing, I do love to visit and be with our church family and all the wonderful older people really would enjoy it, and that's the least I could do for them, as they have lived all of their lives in service to our Lord and have been wonderful role models...ok I will go.
So then you are there in their living room, after seeing the pure shock on these wonderful older members faces as they opened the door and saw 20 + people that go to church with them standing at their door. I"m looking around as we are all crowded around in their living room singing wonderful Christmas hymns out of our song books from church, and it hit me...this is what Christmas is all about and none of that other stuff mattered to me any more. I teared up several times that night, because after wanting to do for others that night, I was the one who got and walked away that night with the blessing. It was a wonderful, wonderful night, one of the nights that I really didn't won't to end.
PS. I didn't have to get my children in and out of their car seats all night. Jolee wanted to ride with the other girls, so they took over and helped Jolee in and out of her car seat all night (we have some wonderful older girls that she really looks up to)! And Brennan stayed with MiMi!
More Christmas pictures and post are sure to follow!
