Two Saturday night's ago, Jolee attended her very first concert. She and her Daddy went to the... "Little Big Town" & "Sugarland" concert! The one time I give up my, free ticket to a concert, to sit in the suite section, to have free food, Silas pulled some connections and got them back stage passes to the" Little Big Town" meet & greet. Jimmy Westbrook from the group "Little Big Town" is from our home town and Silas and He used to be neighbors years ago and use to hang out together. So Silas pulled some even more connections and got word to Jimmy that he and his daughter were coming to the concert that night.
With all that being said, there were 2 backstage passes waiting on he and Jolee at the Will Call Box. At this point, I'm standing in the kitchen asking my 4 1/2year old, did she want to give me my ticket back and she could stay here with Brennan. Her response...Umm no Mom this is a date just for me and Daddy and we only have 2 tickets.
She was so excited about going, that's all she had talked about for days. She had asked several times before, if she could go to a concert one day, because in her words...you know I love me some country music and if any of "my people" come I need to go see them, ok?
So after Silas and I had talked about it, we decided he would take her on this date (she really needed it and has been craving attention from him lately).
I can not tell you enough, how much fun she had that night. Actually I don't know who had more fun, Silas or Jolee. Silas said it was GREAT and LOVED getting to experience, taking her to her 1st concert. She will tell you, she had a BLAST and that it was the best date ever!! Silas said she sang, she danced, she clapped and even woo-hood all night!
This is the same girl, who holds her ears when she flushes the toilet because its to loud, but sat through an entire concert. She now has all 4 of their autographs, a picture with them and her meet and greet patch with their pictures on it, that has a JW on it, (for Jimmy Westbrook). All she wants to listen to is Little Big Town and Sugarland songs and knows and sings them like no tomorrow. Her top favorites to sing are...Boondocks, Little White Church, Stuck Like Glue and the list could go and on
.
She said her favorite person, from Little Big Town is Karen (the black headed girl) because she had a sparkly shirt on!! Every time there song comes on the radio or the Cd we have (that we now listen to over and over and over again) she says..turn it up so we can rock out and sing, but no one else sing I'm just the only singer.
I can not stress enough, how much fun she they had that night together "on their best date ever". I would not have changed or taken my ticket back for anything. To see their faces when they came home that night and to hear her voice when called me half way through, to tell me she was having a blast, but she couldn't talk long because Sugarland was coming on stage next.
They both needed this special 1st experience together, with Silas's job (Thank the Lord for it, because that allowd me to be at home with our children) he doest get to see her a lot and experience alot of firsts, that I do and see, so I'm so glad they had this night together. Even though ,they both still talk about it all the time and what songs they sang, the stage, how they were standing on the stage, the soft pretzels, popcorn, coke, etc, while I sit there and listen to them and think to myself...hmm lets see I straightened the house and had a oh so cute cranky, teething, needy little1 year old that same night. Just kidding, well not about how I spent that evening and I'm not at all jealous.I know I should/could win...The Mother of The Year Award for giving my ticket up to my 4 1/2 yr old so she could go to a concert and have the Best Date ever, as she calls it!!!

I agree you win hands down, mother of the year award. I wouldn't have been handing off a ticket to Little Big Town and Sugarland. :D
