Jolee has officially ended her 1st week of preschool and she loved it! She was exhausted, but loved it! She has learned so much, just in 1 week. She has learned the Pledge of Allegiance (she skips a few parts, but for the most part she knows it) she has taught us several new school songs, she has learned if she has a question to raise her hand and the list could go on. She has made a lot of new friends and absolutely loves, loves her teacher. She has a few days off, until she goes back. When I picked her up on Friday, her teacher told me that Jolee said...I'm going to miss you, so I will call you. So her teacher said, you let her call me if she wants too. I thought that was so cute! So we thought she talked a lot, before school. We were so wrong, the girl is chatty cathy. She is so excited about school. Speaking of talking, I was talking to a couple of Mom's (and they both looked so familiar) and one was talking about how cute and big Brennan was, so I casually said you would never know he was a preemie would you? And all of the sudden, she said that's where I know you from. She was actually one of his nurses in the NICU. She was blown away, at how big he was now because she remembered how little he used to be. So that is kinda cool, that her daughter and Jolee are in the same class now. Then the next Mom and me started talking and we both, were like you look so familiar and started chit chatting. I asked her where she worked and come to find out, she was a ultrasound technician and did ultrasounds on me in the hospital, before he was born. How cool is that? Now her little girl and Jolee are in the same class at school.
I asked her last night, since she didn't have school tomorrow, did she want to stay up and see Daddy? She said YES, and I even want to stay up all night with him, Mom because I'm not tired. I looked at her and just smiled (knowing in my head, she was not even going to make it to till Daddy came home) the bags under her eyes gave me a huge clue. About 20 minutes later, she came in the room where I was and said...Mom, can you come tuck me in I'm tired! She has definitely played hard this week.
Her teacher does an assessment at the beginning of school, with each kid and then at the end of the school year to see how much they progressed. I was excited, when the teacher told me when I took her to school yesterday that she had done the assessments and that Jolee picked out and could tell her what 39 letters out of the 56 capital and lowercase letters mixed together. And she could count to 29 (the highest in the class). The teacher was impressed and said she would have kept going but got stuck on 30, once the teacher helped her with that number she took off again, with her counting. I was beaming, I was so proud of her.
Speaking of her being a chatty cathy. A real live school bus (her words) came to her school. The driver showed them the bus, told them all about it and then let them get on it and sit. She was so excited about that bus, every time she saw one on the way home she would get more and more excited and start telling me about it all over again. She said she even hopes, that one would come by our house one day so I could see it and sit on it. I love it and I love how excited she is, when she learns about new things.
So we both have had a first great week at her school!
