Jolee is so excited about PreK, we are talking about it all the time! Every day she would say, Mom when do I go to school? How much longer is it till I go? etc, etc. She wasn't quiet getting it, when I would say in a couple of weeks, or 20 days, or when I would show her on the calendar. So we made a chain, something I thought would be hands on and very visual. She got to pick out her colors and of course she picked out, pink and purple. We linked them together and voila! Every day she is so excited to take a link off and then count what is left and that is how many days until her first day of PreK! We started out with 17 and she just informed me that we have 13 left!
I don't know who is going to cry more, the first day of school. Wait yes I do....it's going to be ME! She came to me a couple of days ago and said...Mom, I'm going to kinda be a little nervous my first day of school, you know because I won't really know anybody there. As my heart is falling to the ground and breaking and the tears are about to start flowing, she says but I will make friends and I'm not going to worry Mom, because God is with me and remember what we read last night he said don't worry.
At this point I'm full blown crying, trying to get out the words...your right you will make friends and God will be with you and you were listening at our devotional last night. Then (the selfish part of me had to ask her, just 1 more time)...do you still want to go to PreK or do you want to stay home with Mommy? I knew she would say yes and I know she will love it, but this is hard on a Mommy I'm finding out, to send her off. I mean for the love, she has basically been with me everyday since she was born. I'm putting a end this paragraph, before I start crying again!
We attended Parent Orientation last week and we now know how to send out child to PreK. It truly is a great place with a wonderful teacher. She is going to have a blast and love it! But as we were sitting there, I couldn't help but think are we really old enough to have a child starting school and is Jolee (my little 5lb 30z preemie) really old enough to start school? Turns out Yes is the answer to both questions. But WOW where does the time go?
So we have 13 days to buy school supplies, buy new shoes (because you just need new shoes to start school in) and to get well exams done at the Dr. etc, etc and enjoy the rest of our very hot, hot summer!
